Darn it! Still not a gift for Grandma! what should be done? We have an idea: if all else fails, you can always create an NFT. Because it’s easier than you might imagine. We’ll show you how to do it step by step. Best of all: it’s free! Because NFTs do not necessarily need to be created on the Ethereum blockchain.
Creating an NFT: Step by Step
First you need a crypto wallet and you have to choose one of the many NFT platforms. In this guide, we’ve made the decision for you, choosing OpenSea as the base platform and MetaMask as the wallet.
Step 1: Create a wallet
To be able to create an NFT, you first need a MetaMask wallet. Do you already have then you can skip this step. Otherwise, you can visit the official MetaMask website under this link. There you can download either the desktop version or the smartphone version (iOS or Android), depending on what you prefer.
Then simply click through the following steps. MetaMask will then ask you to choose a password and allow you to collect some data from you. But you do not have to agree to the latter. Then MetaMask outputs an initial 24-word phrase for you. You should definitely write it down. Because as always in the field of cryptography: “Not your keys, not your coins!”. If you jot these words down, you can always have access to your wallet. Even if your computer should explode. If you are on a computer, the MetaMask wallet will now be integrated into your browser as an extension. However, if you are working with your smartphone, everything will remain in the app.
Step 2: Log in to OpenSea
You can now login to OpenSea using your newly baked MetaMask wallet. To do this, follow this link and click on “Create” at the top right. If you are working with your smartphone, you can also open MetaMask directly. There you visit OpenSea in your browser.
After that, all you have to do is connect your MetaMask wallet to OpenSea.
To do this, simply click – you guessed it – on the MetaMask icon.
Step Three: Create NFT
In order to be able to create your own NFT, select the Create button in OpenSea. The rest is very simple under Create New Item a gray button will appear which you can click to upload the file you want. This can be an image file, a video clip, an audio file, or even a 3D model. OpenSea supports popular formats like JPG, PNG, MP3, MP4, and many more. The only limitation: The NFT must be no larger than 100MB.
Then you name your NFT and, if you like, specify the properties you want to give it to. Be it height, age, skill level or something else; You can unleash your imagination here. Under the “Unlockable Content” button you can also add features to your NFT that will later be visible only to the owner(s) of the NFT.
All that remains is to select the blockchain to create your NFT. The Ethereum blockchain is selected here by default. However, if you have Create NFT without fees Simply select the Polygon blockchain here.
Then just click Create and you’re done! You have created your NFT.
Create your own groups and sell NFT
OpenSea also gives you the option to create your own groups. These are just subfolders where you can compile your NFT. To do this, click on “My Groups” in the menu and select “Create group”.
If you want to sell the NFT you created, you can easily select it and click Sell. Then you enter the price you wish to achieve.
