First report Tuesday (April 5) at 5:53 pm: Just before Easter, Ferrero recalls several products in Germany. Many chocolate snacks are influenced by the well-known “Kinder Chocolid”. The reason for the recall was the suspected presence of salmonella, which was initially proven abroad.
Chocolate withdrawal in Germany: Ferrero recalls several products from the “Children” range
The affected products were manufactured at the Arlon factory in Belgium. There have previously been Ferrero recalls in Belgium and Great Britain. It was justified by “the number of salmonella outbreaks reported in various EU member states,” the responsible Belgian authority declared (more on recalls and warnings in RUHR24).
On Friday, Germany joined France and Sweden. Ferrero explained that the decision to withdraw Kinder Chocolid products was voluntary and as a precautionary measure. They are working closely with the responsible food authorities in Germany to uncover a possible link to a number of reported cases of salmonella.
So far, there have been no complaints from consumers. In addition, no “baby” products have yet been proven to be infected with salmonella. However, it is taken very seriously. Currently, there is another recall for dessert – halva with pistachios.
