Salmonella danger in Ferrero: Consumer Center warns against consuming “baby” products. These include surprise eggs and chocolate cake.
Cologne – the Salmonella scandal at Ferrero, which led to the recall of a number of products, including Netto, Edeka, Penny, Kaufland, Aldi, Lidl, Globus and Rewe products, which also took the consumer position. As a precaution, this now advises against consuming any “gentler” Ferrero products, such as surprise eggs, baby eggs or chocolate bonbons.
The reason: Consumers cannot immediately tell if a product was manufactured at the Belgian factory in Arlon, explains the Consumer Advice Center. The Arlon factory is responsible for the salmonella outbreak, and thus also the big Ferrero recall. But there was also good news: Children’s chocolate is not affected by salmonella outbreaks.

Ferrero recall: Almost all ‘baby’ products affected – Consumer Advice Center slams
However, the Consumer Advice Center is critical of the approach and, above all, the Ferrero Connection. Also because it is not yet clear which other Ferrero products besides the “kinder” range also pose a risk of salmonella infection. “Ferrero’s fragmented information policy is unreasonable and irresponsible for consumers. Ferrero must now put all information on the table and participate in the full clarification of the issue. It must be ensured that no other products are affected by salmonella bacteria”, explains the Consumer Advice Center. The following Ferrero products have been recalled so far:

Salmonella scandal: about 150 diseases linked to Ferrero products are known
According to the European Union authorities, so far 119 cases of salmonella infection and 31 suspected cases have been linked to the consumption of products from the Belgian factory. So far, at least 150 customers who have purchased Ferrero products in the past few weeks and months could be directly affected by the salmonella scandal. The cause of the salmonella outbreak at the Ferrero factory in Belgium has yet to be fully elucidated, but there is mounting evidence that the bacteria may be present in the factory-processed curdled milk. Ferrero initially identified and removed a filter at the outlet of two yoghurt tanks as a potential risk to salmonella.
Ferrero’s recall of Kinder products – How do I know I have Salmonella?
According to the Consumer Advice Center, salmonella appears within a few days after having diarrhea and abdominal pain. Sometimes vomiting and mild fever can occur. However, symptoms usually go away on their own after a few days in otherwise healthy people. However, anyone who develops persistent or severe symptoms should see a doctor.
