Barmer: The number of sick leave due to Corona in Hamburg is significantly reduced again
The second wave of coronavirus-related sick leave in Hamburg since the beginning of the year has largely faded away lately. This is illustrated by an evaluation by the Barmer Institute for Health Systems Research. From March 27 to April 9, nearly 1,000 insured people entitled to sick pay were unable to work due to infection with the Covid 19 virus. After two weeks, the number of people unable to work fell by about 20 per cent. State manager Susan Klein said Wednesday in Hamburg that Parmer was able to note a similar development at the beginning of February. In the week of January 30 to February 5, nearly 1,000 insured people were on sick leave due to coronavirus infection. That number nearly halved by the beginning of March and then rose again dramatically.
Cancer treatment affects the effect of the Covid vaccine
Covid-19 vaccines have different effects on cancer patients. According to a study, cancer patients treated as outpatients show a particularly inadequate vaccination response when treated with certain antitumor therapies, University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) announced on Wednesday. This included chemotherapy and treatment with steroids or special antibodies. The study’s first author, Martin Schönlein of the UKE, advised that initially more preventive measures should be offered to patients at particularly risk, including frequent vaccinations.
New Omicron variants: BA.4 and BA.5 may not be more dangerous
The number of coronavirus cases in this country had barely fallen in the spring when the alarming news came from South Africa again: with BA.4 and BA.5, two new types of Omicron caused an increase in the number of corona infections. Experts keep an eye on each new variant of Corona, but are somewhat relaxed about BA.4 and BA.5.
Corona crisis exit: TUI on its way to profitability
Travel group TUI from Hanover expects to be in the black for 2022, two years after Corona. The group is currently facing strong demand for vacation travel. Capacity will almost reach its pre-crisis level for 2019, TUI President Joussen said on Wednesday. The board assumes that more corona loans to KfW state bank will soon be repaid and that the federal government’s involvement in the company will be reduced. The state had to protect the company from Hanover with 4.3 billion euros in financial aid in the pandemic crisis.
Children are more likely to be victims of violence during the pandemic
An increase in the number of cases of violence has been reported by the legitimate Child Protection ambulance of the Ministry of Health in Hanover. “We’ve had an increased request for diagnostic support since the pandemic began,” a facility spokeswoman said. According to the spokeswoman, since 2020, pediatricians have provided forensic advice in more than 500 cases and examined 142 children in a child protection clinic. They say online and phone consultations have increased. Today, Lower Saxony’s Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Daniela Behrens (SPD), is visiting the university’s forensic facility.
Corona aid in Hamburg: Anger over interest rate exercise
Corona aid money that Hamburg charges interest and fees. Self-employed who have to pay back at least part of the help they got: There was outrage and criticism in the Citizenship Economic Commission.
Significant increase in the number of cases of chlorine dioxide poisoning
According to the Northern Poisons Information Center (GIZn) in Göttingen, the number of emergency calls for chlorine dioxide poisoning has risen sharply since the start of the Corona epidemic: from seven emergency calls in 2019 to 50 in 2021. In the current year, 24 head office announced At the request of the NDR, emergency calls regarding chlorine dioxide have already been received. The North Poisons Information Center records emergency calls for Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.
Chlorine dioxide solution, CDL for short, is repeatedly touted as a “miracle cure” for various ailments such as cancer and corona. Toxicologists such as Bernd Mullbauer from Bremen warn against taking it: “Chlorine dioxide is a toxic substance, which can dissolve the mucous membranes, and therefore has no place in or on the body.”
Lower Saxony: more than 13,000 new infections
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 13,896 new infections in Lower Saxony in the morning. The seven-day infection rate, the number of new infections per 100,000 population in one week, is now 708.1 – up from 731.5 the day before.
RKI: The nationwide infection rate is currently 507.1
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven day nationwide occurrence in the morning at 507.1. The value the previous day was 522.7. However, the infection does not provide a complete picture of the infection status. Experts have been hypothesizing for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – due to the stress of health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test. Only these count in the stats. Germany’s health authorities recently reported 97,010 new coronavirus infections in the RKI in one day.
Hamburg: Seven-day infection rate drops to 443.0
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) recently recorded 1,212 new cases of corona in Hamburg. The seven-day incidence rate is currently 443.0 – after 505.1 the previous day.
Since the social authority in Hamburg stopped publishing Corona data on a daily basis at the beginning of May, the NDR now publishes the current figures from the RKI in the Corona Index every day. The Hanseatic City Health Authority only gives an update on the occurrence of seven days and hospital use once a week – on Tuesdays. These data and values may differ from those of RKI.
Schleswig-Holstein: 5,506 new infections were reported
The seven-day incidence of novel coronavirus infection per 100,000 inhabitants in Schleswig-Holstein is now 751.3 and thus slightly lower than the previous day (763.6). 5,506 new infections were reported within one day. Yesterday, 5,432 new infections were recorded.
