60 years of riding and jumping at Wolgast Tannenkamp
Woolgast.For 60 years, the people of Wolgast have indulged in equestrian sports with passion, ambition and fun. Since then, dealing with four-legged friends has not lost its charm. Today, 56 members belong to the Wolgast Riding Club, which called the 31st Cycle of Show Riding and Show Jumping on Saturday. About 150 riders from 50 clubs traveled with 180 horses, so that a worthwhile memorial tournament could be held.

The club’s president, Karsten Kreuz, keeps the club’s original founding document in the safe dated August 9, 1962. Traktor Wolgast was adopted by the company’s sports federation (BSG), founded at the HO restaurant “Tannenkamp” at that time, as a reason for the development of equestrian sports in Wolgast. “My father, Fritz Kreuz, a transportation contractor, was one of the founding members,” son Carsten says. The other men in the first hour were attorney Willie Wolff, who also became the first chairman, farmer Alfred Willomat, master butcher Heinrich Lanko, and mill Harry Kreese. Heinrich Berkant represented the youth club on the District Committee for Equestrian Sports.

Successful jumping group in East German times
“During the GDR era, we had a strong jumping group with very talented kids and youth,” says Karsten Kreuz, who has run the club since 1986. “At that time we were the regional champions in the Rostock region several times. We once reached the fifth place in the East German championships.” The club area, which covers a total area of about 2.5 hectares with the competition area that we have prepared ourselves, still provides ideal conditions for equestrian athletes. .
About 20 young athletes belong to the Wolgast Equestrian Club. Laura Radtke is also an ardent gun buddy. why? “Because I enjoy driving,” the 11-year-old from Wolgast explains, briefly and painlessly. “You feel free on the horse and leave all your stress behind.” Katrina Potratz (8 years old) has been with the club since 2018 with an interest in stylish animals. “I just want to do something with the horses because they are so cool and cute,” Zinowitz girl explains.

“Our members’ horses are privately owned. They are basically Mecklenburg Warmbloods – a calm, good-natured breed that is well-balanced, childish, flexible and elegant,” club president Cruz told Cruz. He owns four gray horses and one foal. “Everyone goes with the club and is made available by me, so to speak.”
Great tournament, Hubertus hunt, Easter fire
The riding club puts on a cultural landmark every year. In addition to the traditional riding and jumping championships, which had to be canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to Corona, the Hubertus hunt on the third Saturday in October is also a fixed date on the event calendar. 16 teams and about 30 riders run through Mittelhof, Karen and Croslin to the beach at Frist, later back to Vollgast via Voodoo. The riding club also organizes Easter bonfires.

There are also local Wolgast champions in the rankings as of Saturday. In the intermediate jump test, Pia Bertram finished second on her horse Captain Jack Sparrow of the local riding club and only had to admit defeat to Dieter Gottschalk over Stofinski of RFV Grossmane. Carsten Kron on Perlenfeuer of TuS Seegrund Ahlbeck and Hannes Prehl on Coco Chanel of RFV Altkamp and the surrounding area are third and fourth. In the lead class competition, Amy Schmidt finished fourth over Wolgaster Reitverein’s Nelly.
