If the characters, items, and abilities in video games exist in the form of tamper-proof tokens on the blockchain, then players can own them rather than simply interact with them. CoinDesk thinks even further: if game content is available on public blockchains, it can theoretically be accessed from any game.

Then the possibilities would be essentially unlimited. The player’s inventory, playable characters and abilities will not be linked to the game. Instead, the player existed as a cross-play, cross-platform, and single-player form, accessing their own arsenal in the form of NFTs in each game.
