Neuler-Schwenningen. The community celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Schwenningen Blood Ride tradition with a village festival, the highlight of which was the equestrian parade on White Monday mornings. In front of the Heilig-Blut-Kapelle (Church of the Holy Blood) in the center of the village, participating knights from the area’s friendly riding clubs received their first blessing on horseback at the equestrian mass.

With ammo, blood rider, and priest Sven van Meigen, the retinue set out to fulfill his promise to ride through the fields and meadows. In the past two years, because of the situation, only a small delegation of horsemen have been able to carry out the procession through Schöningen, Neuller, Espschweiler and Schreisheim, and this year, about 100 horses have been released. The procession stopped at roadside crosses and churches and Reverend van Meijn gave the blessing.

A particularly ideal place to pray is the “To the Mother of Good Advice” chapel above Adlersteige. Here everyone prayed for those who are engaged in politics and life. “The way you participate in life, it will come back to you,” Meegen said.

While some were leisurely walking in the fields, Reverend Jürgen Zorn celebrated with a prayer in front of the Church of the Holy Blood in Schöningen.
