On the streets and squares of downtown Cummins, music, singing and dancing will once again be played in unison and lively from 3pm until 10:30pm at the start of the calendar year. The big party for two years has been canceled due to Corona. In 2021, at least some inn owners were automatically invited to attend small events in their courtyards and gardens. That was also welcomed during the pandemic’s short summer break.
Something from every musical group
Fête de la Musique wants to communicate. And you want to make the music tangible in the places where people are – in squares, on street corners, in parks and gardens. The organizers again managed to win over 29 different ensembles – from soloists to large orchestras. Everyone performs on this day without fees or charges.
Not an easy task. Among others, because the Fête de la Musique is being held again in the middle of the week this time. This also makes sense when it comes to the goal of introducing music into everyday life. This event, supported by several Cummins associates, has been very popular for two decades. Proof that Kaminzers were right when they joined the international Fête de la Musique movement 20 years ago. This idea came to the head of the culture department at the time, Rainer Deutschmann. Fellow Selko Freudenberg, himself a musician, later took charge of the organization with the support of his other colleagues.
Traffic restrictions in the old town
Now the Anniversary Edition will be compensated, which was already supposed to increase in 2020. The city offers a total of 13 different venues and provides plenty of space and play space for bands, solo artists, duets and choirs. Musical tracks range from rock, funk, pop, country, Irish folklore, chanson, brass band and church music. Entry is free as usual.
Due to the preparation and implementation of the festival, locals and guests are required to prepare for traffic restrictions. The city center is closed to cars from 3 pm to 10 pm. Damage affects the following ways:

Paulsnitz has also been involved since 2018
But Pulsnitz also got involved a few years ago. This year, at four locations within the city, there will be no less than 17 program items by artists from Pulsnitz and the surrounding area on the stage boards.
As another special feature, a lounge with DJ and a cocktail corner will be set up in the garden house of the palace clinic. The Pulsnitz Dance and Theater Workshop and the Pulsnitz Marching Ensemble also perform. A member is offered a guided tour with musical accompaniment in the city church. Food and beverages will be available at the respective stage locations.
Fete also connects musicians to each other
The Fête de la Musique in Kamenz and Pulsnitz has long made a name for itself among local musicians. People love to come and carry friendly thoughts tonally. Listening to others, seeing what is being played and, above all, how – this also gives the participants strength. It’s often young, up-and-coming bands who are still looking for something of their own. In cummins they get a platform.
Whether it’s classical music in churches, blazing beats in the market square, folk songs to sing along to or brass band music – it will be a beautiful Midsummer Night.
