Solana Mobile announces Android phone for Web3

Solana Mobile has announced an Android phone for 2023. Its purpose is to enable potentially billions of users to connect to Web3.

Solana Mobile is a subsidiary of open source software developer Solana Labs. The parent company is involved in the development of Solana and the decentralized blockchain software of the same name. The new Saga Web3 is priced at $1,000 and buyers can pre-order it starting today with a $100 deposit. However, deliveries will not take place until the beginning of 2023.

Developers will be given preferential treatment so that they can test Solana Mobile Stack and the Saga Phone. Solana Mobile explains: “Those who pre-order can get a Saga Pass. NFT accompanies the first series of Saga devices and is a ticket to a new kind of platform.”

Solana Mobile Blockchain Integration

The Android phone is tightly integrated with the Solana blockchain to ensure easy and secure transactions on Web3. Managing digital assets such as tokens and NFTs is also possible.

Anatoly Yakovenko is the co-founder of Solana. Nearly 7 billion people in the world use smartphones and more than 100 million people own digital assets. Both numbers will continue to grow, and in the process, Saga is setting a new standard for the Web3 mobile experience. “

Mass adoption imminent

In a recent opinion piece, Yakovenko explained that over the past two years, Solana has seen a rapid growth of millions of active wallet addresses. “It is now the largest platform for NFTs and the most user-friendly way to enter encryption. Millions of people already use private keys to authenticate transactions. Thanks to the global community of developers who bring thousands of different apps to market via DeFi, collectibles, games, payments and more.”

Yet every day I hear stories of people who interrupt dinner parties, conferences, and vacations to get back to their computers and sign important transactions into their wallets.. Mints, trades, listings, and remittances define the daily lives of crypto enthusiasts and tear us away from our lives in society. However, the only companies with the resources to make our dreams of a self-managed mobile future a reality are Apple and Google. However, there are no known updates to their encryption roadmaps. “

“So Web3 developers should not build around the capabilities of mobile devices, but start developing them themselves. Because the obstacles are clear: Google and Apple have not developed their own App Store concepts for Web3. There are no custodial solutions for smartphones, i.e., solutions for secure storage of cryptocurrencies. Basic software and hardware integration not available. It’s time to use mobile cryptocurrency.”

“We need the secure safekeeping solutions with the biometric integrations we have always dreamed of. Unfortunately, that has not happened in the roadmaps of the smartphone giants. It is time for an app store without token restrictions or NFTs, managed in the hands of users and developers.” This enables sales models on Web3 structures that were previously unimaginable in the App Store and Google Play. These features have been technically enabled for some time, so there’s no reason to wait any longer.

Solana Mobile Stack

Solana Mobile Stack was also included with the Saga launch. “This Android framework allows developers to build rich mobile experiences for wallets and apps on Solana and create a ‘secure object’ to manage private keys.” Solana Mobile Stack SDK is now available for developers.

Raj Gokal is the other co-founder of Solana. “We chose the name Saga because the history of coding is still being written. This is the next chapter and we think it’s time to bring the world of crypto to mobile devices. Now comes the next step on the road to greater adoption, better understanding, and with it new opportunities.”

Saga is developed and manufactured by Android OSOM Corporation. The company is also responsible for hardware from Google, Apple, and Intel.

Jason Keats is the co-founder of OSOM. “Starting with basic principles, Saga is creating an entirely new mobile experience for the individuals, developers, and participants in the Solana ecosystem. The beginning of a new era of mobility. To embrace the future of Web3, the world needs new hardware. In addition, building a new, future-oriented ecosystem is very exciting for us. We don’t let old systems structures hold us back.”

Seed Vault will run using Solana Mobile Stack via Saga’s security features. “With the addition of an on-device security element, Seed Vault keeps private keys, raw phrases, and confidential information separate from the application layer. However, it is possible to interact with applications on the device or in the mobile browser.”
