Study on the topic of dating – Austrians have clear preferences when it comes to accent

In a new study, Casino.at polled 1,000 people in Austria to find out how they act when it comes to dating, relationships and love. It also examined what accent Austrians find most attractive, what characteristics in a dating partner are most deterrent, what is important to a successful online dating profile and how important loyalty is to Austrians in a relationship.

When it comes to dating, there are a number of things that make a person a potential romantic partner – these are the top five qualities of Austrians when dating:

Next to personality, kindness is the most important thing for more than 90% of people, closely followed by a sense of humor. Rude behavior towards others (78%), as well as bad behavior (75%) is prohibited for many. Frequent mobile phone use during this appointment is also a turn off for 70% of Austrians.

Austrians find the Styrian dialect more attractive

The Vienna accent and Burgenland dialect are less convincing, with less than five Austrians finding them attractive.

One in three Austrians fell in love online without ever meeting the person

The survey shows that, in fact, up to 31% of respondents fell in love online without ever seeing the other person. The rate is approximately 40% among people aged 16-25 and among people aged 25-34.

Not everyone uses dating apps to fall in love, quite the opposite: every fourth Austrian uses them to arrange sex with other people from time to time. 41% of people who describe themselves as bisexual use dating apps for this reason, followed by 21% of straight respondents and 12% of gay respondents. Incidentally, most Austrians who meet most frequently for casual sex live in Bregenz (32.26%), followed by Leoben (28.57%), Vienna (25.20%), Linz (23.31%) and St. Polten (22.73%).

Every third Austrian actually cheated

People in Innsbruck (24%) and Linz (23%) cheat more than others. Wiener Neustadt and Bregenz followed with 23% each. At the same time, men say they are more honest – about 21% of men surveyed said they admit they are unfaithful to their partner (compared to 16% for women). The people at Wiener Neustadt are the most honest, and about 25% of people admit it.
