Neckar-Odenwald region: kids should rediscover the joy of exercise – Neckar Valley and Odenwald – News and current affairs from the region

Neckar Odenwald district. (RNZ) The human body is programmed for a life of motion. This can be both inspiring and satisfying in equal measure. But in our daily life, it is often neglected, and even children often lack exercise. Against this background, something has now been launched in the region: about 60 specialists recently participated in two certification events to pass the movement in Mosbach and Buchen.

With their participation, volunteer teachers and trainers were empowered to carry out the exercise in their facilities. More certifications have already been obtained at Mosbach. Currently 28 day care centers and 17 clubs are accredited. “Acceptance of the offer in our district is quite satisfactory. I can only encourage other facilities to specifically enhance the motor skills of children with an exercise card,” said Head of the Neckar-Odenwald Municipal Health Conference, District Director Dr. Achim Brutil.

The certification events in July at the Odenwald Sports Center and at the Ludwig Erhard School Gymnasium in Mosbach were by no means negative information events. The participants wanted more: to be able to carry out the scrolling with the children and to be able to give away the famous kite stickers. Children collect stickers for each successfully completed exercise, from “ant” to “snake” to “bear”.

Julia Watzal has been working as a multiplier for the Neckar-Odenwald region since this year and has been implementing certifications in the region. The second event was represented by Alexandra Krebs from Freudenstadt. After a short round of introductions, the multipliers went on to elaborate on the development and importance of early childhood motor skill enhancement and the concept of exercise in an entertaining theoretical part.

This was followed by two training blocks in the morning and afternoon: the exercises were prepared in groups and explained to all present, as well as the various game variables on display in order to best prepare the children for the exercises. The participants enjoyed the execution very much. Trying it out for yourself is an essential part of our free one-day certification event. “Anyone who does kid-friendly exercises themselves also knows what’s important,” Watzal explains.
